Clean green machine: first electric street sweeper for Harrow Council
The first fully electric street sweeper has joined Harrow Council’s fleet in another step forward for the authority’s carbon neutral pledge. The eSwingo 200+ sweeper - the first of its kind in a London borough – took to the streets of Harrow this month.
Cllr Varsha Parmar, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “I’m so proud that Harrow is leading the way with this electric sweeper. It looks fantastic and brings so many benefits to Harrow. It will reduce our carbon footprint, save on running costs and it’s a bit quieter too.”

Dudley Council opts for Schmidt Swingo 200⁺ sweepers
Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council has added eight Swingo 200+ from Aebi Schmidt to its fleet of street cleaning vehicles following a thorough and extensive tender process at which the compact sweeper scored top marks.
“We were looking for compact sweepers that gave us greater flexibility and manoeuvrability and the Swingos have certainly fitted the bill,” said Simon Bedford, Senior Operations Officer, Street, Green Care and Amenity Services.

Update from Southampton
Southampton City Council is seeing electrifying results from its fleet of four new all-electric eSwingo 200+ compact sweepers from Aebi Schmidt UK which are making a vital contribution to meeting the Council’s environmental objectives under its Greener City Charter.
The eSwingos, which have replaced existing diesel-powered models, are contributing to the council’s sustainable energy and carbon reduction objectives, which include a pledge to be carbon neutral by 2030, that all corporate assets will have a net zero carbon footprint and 90% of the fleet will be zero-emission by 2030.

eSwingo supports meeting green city plan objectives
Southampton City Council has taken delivery of the first of four all-electric eSwingo compact sweepers from Aebi Schmidt UK to help meet its environmental objectives under its Green City Plan 2030. The zero-emission eSwingos will contribute to the council’s sustainable energy and carbon reduction objectives replacing the diesel-powered Swingo 200+ sweepers that the council currently operates. A pilot test of one of the vehicles was undertaken last year, which demonstrated the eSwingo was easily capable of working a nine-hour shift but still leaving between 43-54% of battery life available, while also operating at extremely low noise levels.

When increased safety matches a boost of productivity
Fully electric is a UK first
A new and electric sweeper is now helping the fight against litter on South Lanarkshire’s streets. The eSwingo 200+ compact sweeper does exactly the same job as the existing Diesel stablemates, but is the first fully electric model to be used in South Lanarkshire and the whole of the UK. It operates entirely on electric power without generating any carbon emissions. Swingo Sweepers are a regular sight on streets across South Lanarkshire, sweeping up and collecting rubbish from all areas, as the Council currently operates a fleet of twenty Schmidt Swingo 200+ compact sweepers.

New AS 660 at London LCY
London City Airport has taken delivery of a Schmidt AS 660 Airport Sweeper to keep FOD (Foreign Objects Debris) under control across the airfield during development work, as the airport expands its infrastructure whilst getting back to flying after lockdown. The AS 660 is Aebi Schmidt’s airport specification truck-mounted sweeper and stablemate of the popular Street King 660, but differs in that it has a high-performance rear suction unit and more.
