The Aebi Schmidt Group’s procurement department meets the daily material requirements of our production sites in Poland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, the USA and Finland, as well as our customers’ spare parts requirements. It is only through seamless cooperation between the various sites and reliable suppliers that the Aebi Schmidt Group can ensure a consistently high standard of product quality.
The Aebi Schmidt Group’s procurement function is traditionally divided into operational and strategic procurement:
Operational procurement handles day-to-day order processing and procurement logistics, ensuring that goods are delivered at the right time, to the right place, in the right quantity and at the right price.
The strategic division, on the other hand, deals with supplier and contract management, product group strategies, innovation and project support, price negotiations, logistics and the formulation of terms and conditions.
Product Groups
All procurement requirements are structured and allocated via an internal product group management system.
Group-wide supplier and product strategies are consistently pursued through a lead buyer concept. The focus here is on high-quality components at globally competitive prices.
Sustainable supplier management
When selecting new suppliers, the relevant companies are audited to assess key quality, compliance and environmental issues, as well as fundamental requirements.
The basis for collaboration with Aebi Schmidt is formed by the terms and conditions of purchase or an individually agreed framework supply contract. Suppliers are assessed via an internal supplier management system, and risks to the supply chain are taken into account.
The Aebi Schmidt Group requires its suppliers and partners to consistently adhere to the Code of Conduct, to implement the defined environmental requirements and to proactively improve processes in an environmentally conscious manner, such as through the use of reusable packaging and the use of eco-friendly packaging materials.
Procurement as a driver of innovation
In Purchasing, we see ourselves as partners to the Development Department in the implementation of product and customer projects. In doing so, we play an active role in the development of new products and the optimisation of costs. The early involvement of innovative and competent suppliers ensures the implementation of this strategy, as well as the use of state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies and components that meet the highest technical standards.
