The MB Melter is a thermoplastic support system designed to supply molten material for Apollo applicator carts and long line striping trucks. Thermoplastic material is loaded into insulated kettles, where a burner heats the material through side heat stacks and a central heat riser. A hydraulic agitator keeps the material moving to ensure uniform melting and maintain optimal temperature. Available in stand-alone, skid-, trailer-, or truck-mounted configurations, the Melter offers capacities from one 500 kettle up to 4,000 lbs kettles and can be powered by propane or diesel engines. Optional cranes or lift gates allow safe handling of thermoplastic material and applicator equipment. The system is suitable for inner-city roads, highways, parking facilities, industrial and port areas, sidewalks, and cycleways.

Trailers and Kettles

The Melter is available as part of a trailer-mounted system or as individual kettles without a trailer or chassis. Trailer-mounted Melter units can be configured with axle ratings appropriate for the required weight and load capacity, with single or double kettle configurations available.

For operations requiring maximum flexibility, kettles can also be supplied individually or as skid-mounted (skidded) units. Stand-alone and skid-mounted Melter units do not require a dedicated chassis, making them easy to deploy on job sites. Kettles and power packs are available with LP (propane) or diesel fuel options to suit operational preferences.

Chassis

Truck-mounted Melter units are available on a variety of commercial chassis platforms. Customers can choose from Peterbilt, Isuzu, Mack, Autocar, Battle Motors, Freightliner, or International chassis. Configurations include single axle, single axle with lift axle, tandem axle, or tandem axle with lift axle. Chassis specifications are engineered to meet the operational requirements of thermoplastic pavement marking.

Melter Platform

The Melter platform is designed for safe, efficient, and flexible operation. Multiple access ladders provide convenient entry, while optional lift gates or cranes make loading and unloading thermoplastic material and Apollo applicator carts quick and secure. Additional equipment options, including toolboxes, stencil racks, safety lighting, and message or arrow boards, allow crews to customize the platform for maximum productivity and operational convenience.

Melter Equipment

The Melter provides thermoplastic material to Apollo applicator carts and long line striping trucks. Heated kettles with hydraulic agitation ensure the material remains consistent and ready for application, while integrated dispensing systems allow easy transfer to applicator carts or trucks.

Material Handling System

A safety chute allows material to be added to the kettle while keeping the bag isolated for safer handling. Once melted, the material can be dispensed through a chute to fill Apollo applicator carts, with the option to add hoses for supplying long line striping trucks.

Operator Controls & Safety Systems

Operator safety is built into every Melter system. The safety chute isolates material during loading, while optional lift gates or cranes provide secure handling of thermoplastic material and Apollo applicator carts. Personal protective equipment (PPE) can be used to further enhance operator safety during all handling and loading operations.
