Rethinking Agriculture: How One Farm Is Shaping the Future

A visit to Weitsicht farm estate makes one thing clear: this is where the future of farming is being reimagined. Instead of settling for compromises, estate manager Eva Kollmann is taking a clear and consistent path towards CO₂-neutral production. A key part of this vision? Electrification.

“My aim is simple: a form of agriculture that’s forward-looking, sustainable and as climate-neutral as possible,” says Kollmann. On this morning, amidst rows of speciality crops and wild fruit shrubs, she’s testing the electric single-axle machine Aebi CC 140e.

Working Electrically – Without Compromise

Like all Combicut models, the CC 140e can be equipped with a wide range of attachments, making it ideal for numerous agricultural and municipal tasks such as green space maintenance, sweeping and winter service. Its versatility allows for highly efficient working – as Kollmann confirms: “I can drive straight into the crop rows, shred branches right on site, and get going again just a few steps away – that’s a real gain in workflow for me.”

Thanks to its electric drive, such work is now not only emissions-free, but also significantly quieter – making it less stressful for both operator and environment. While efficient work means fewer trips and reduced emissions, it also means the machine must deliver more. That was a key consideration during the development of the electric CC 140e. “With just one battery pack, the available performance wouldn’t be enough in many scenarios,” explains Thomas Küpfer, Product Manager for Aebi. “That’s why the CC 140e features an innovative interchangeable battery system – meaning the machine is always ready for action, without compromise.”

Farming as Part of the Energy Transition

Weitsicht farm estate aims to generate all of its required energy from renewable sources in the near future. For Kollmann, using electric machines is therefore a logical step: “We already use several electric machines. To me it’s clear: if we truly want change, we need new approaches and new technologies.”

Küpfer sees both a growing responsibility and a great opportunity: “With the Aebi CC 140e, we’re laying the foundation for rethinking agriculture – quiet, clean and efficient.” What already works on forward-thinking farms today could become the standard of tomorrow. The Aebi CC 140e – ecological, efficient and future-ready – stands for a transition that more and more agricultural businesses are ready to embrace.
