Heavyweight Matchup: The T-24D Trailer and Directional Drills

Towmaster’s T-24D was built with the future in mind. With a rugged frame, smart design, and the muscle to move bigger, heavier drills without breaking a sweat, this trailer is all about performance under pressure. Bob Pace, Towmaster Trailer’s Inside Sales Manager says, “The T-24D hauls more without maxing out the tandem-axle drop-deck like some other trailers, plus it helps crews transport these drills in a way that’s safer and more efficient,” From hauling capacity to jobsite safety, learn why this trailer was built to lead the pack.

Engineered to support the weight and footprint of cutting-edge HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) equipment, the T-24D delivers the rock-solid durability and dependable performance needed to haul large directional drills and their supporting gear. Whether it’s a major operation or a day-to-day task, your crews will be ready to get to work and keep moving at full throttle.

Built Tough for Bigger Drills

The Towmaster T-24D large drop-deck trailer is built on a rugged cold-formed I-beam tongue and main frame and features a 3-inch lip around the deck. The hardwood oak deck is supported by 3-inch I-beam crossmembers, and rubber torsion 12,000-lb axles provide a smooth ride. Standard features include a bolt-on parking jack, LED lights, a sealed wiring harness, spring-assist ramps, and a solid bar ramp hold-up.

One Trailer. One Trip.

Unlike some competitor models, the full-width deck of the T-24D gives customers the flexibility to haul more than just the drill. The payload capacity and additional space make it a strong, straightforward transport option.

Bob adds, “The T-24D will haul these new drills, a mixer, and a full 500-gallon water tank. The extra deck space even leaves room for a pipe rack and drill rods. Depending on how many rods you load, this can easily total 20,000 lbs, which is well within the trailer’s 24,000-lb rating.”

The extra space provided by the T-24D allows crews to haul a next-generation directional drill, mixer, filled 500-gallon water tank, and a pipe rack with drill rods.

Save Time and Trips on Every Job

“The ability to load all the key parts of these larger drills onto one trailer really stands out to customers,” Bob explains. “Every time I talk to someone about the T-24D, they walk away understanding just how versatile it is. It hauls more without maxing out the tandem-axle drop-deck like some other trailers.”

Chris Pokornowski, General Manager of Towmaster, adds perspective. “Some customers focus so much on what the drill can do, they overlook the transport. Using the wrong trailer can cause major issues. The T-24D handles these newer, heavier rigs with no problem. It’s designed to do the job right.”
