Aebi Schmidt earns top spot in UK public sector procurement

Aebi Schmidt UK has secured top rankings in two categories of the latest TPPL framework agreement – a procurement route used by public sector organisations across the UK. This means faster, easier access to our sweepers and winter service vehicles, backed by nationwide support.

Faster procurement, greater flexibility

TPPL (The Procurement Partnership Ltd) is a UK-based procurement specialist that helps local authorities and other public sector bodies simplify the purchasing of specialist vehicles and equipment. Instead of going through a full tender process – which can take four to six months – framework agreements like those offered by TPPL enable organisations to procure equipment in as little as four to six weeks.

“Framework agreements of this nature allow public sector fleet and transport managers to maximise efficiency, drive value for money and meet compliance regulations,” says James Brennan, Managing Director at TPPL. “This dramatically reduces the time and cost of going to market.”

Aebi Schmidt: top-ranked in two key vehicle categories

In the newly awarded TPPL framework for HGV and specialist vehicles, Aebi Schmidt UK is the top-ranked supplier in:

  • Lot 3: Sweepers and sweeper conversions up to 44 tonnes
  • Lot 4: Winter maintenance conversions up to 44 tonnes

Ranking is based on criteria such as price, quality, product range, and aftersales support. The result reflects the strength of Aebi Schmidt’s UK portfolio – from compact sweepers to large-scale winter service vehicles.

James Brennan explains: “The sweeper category covers all sweepers of any fuel type including diesel, electric and HVO, from compact to truck-mounted models up to a maximum weight of 44 tons. The winter maintenance conversion category would include all truck-mounted gritters, with a wide variety of accepted chassis, again up to 44 tons.”

Built for public sector needs

“TPPL offers comprehensive tender support for customers when accessing our solutions,” says James Brennan. “The frameworks offer flexibility for customers and have a diverse range of suppliers appointed to them, providing choice and value for money.”

What makes Aebi Schmidt UK stand out within this framework is the full package: machines tailored to public sector needs, combined with a nationwide sales and service network that supports every stage – from procurement to ongoing operation.

Looking ahead

The previous TPPL framework enabled around £400 million worth of specialist vehicles to be procured over four years. The new agreement is even broader, covering potential spend of up to £1.1 billion over four years, with an option to extend.

“We’re proud to be selected for these two TPPL categories,” says Matt Elderkin, UK Sales Manager at Aebi Schmidt. “We look forward to working closely with public sector organisations to provide reliable and effective sweepers and winter service vehicles in the years ahead.”
