The 58th Annual Symposium returns to Buffalo, New York, April 24–29, continuing its long-standing tradition of collaboration, education, and advancement. For nearly 30 years, MB Companies - Airport Maintenance Division has been a committed supporter of this important industry event.
From Classroom to Runway - Training That Keeps Airports Moving
Development remains at the core of the Snow Symposium. This year MB’s own Sam Mallmann will play a key role in shaping the next generation of airport operators.
As Assistant Service Manager for MB Airport Maintenance Products, Sam brings more than 30 years of hands-on experience in diesel technology, heavy equipment maintenance, and airport snow removal operations. At this year’s event, he will be leading sessions in both the basic and advanced snow programs, including a co-led advanced session alongside Mark Rudolph of Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
Attendees can expect practical, experience-driven instruction covering setups, broom use, plowing, snow blowing, and overall equipment operation. These sessions go beyond the fundamentals, focusing on how operators can better understand their equipment and make more informed decisions in real-world conditions.
“Training has evolved significantly over the years,” Sam notes. “It’s no longer about jumping in a truck and heading out to move snow and ice. It’s about understanding what the equipment is doing and how to operate it effectively.”
That shift is critical as airports face increasing pressure to do more with fewer personnel. Training programs like those at SnoPo help operators build the knowledge and confidence needed to respond during winter events.
Sam emphasizes, understanding proper techniques, like broom core management and optimal travel speed, can make a measurable difference in performance and outcomes.
For Sam, the value of the symposium goes beyond the classroom. “It’s seeing all the airports come together,” he says. “Everyone is there to learn from each other and improve.”

The MB7BT - Reducing Equipment Needs. Expanding Capability.
At SnoPo 2026, MB will be highlighting the MB7BT bi-directional tractor. One machine, multiple functionalities, across every season.
By combining multi-season capability into a single platform, it eliminates the need for single-purpose machines. That means less equipment to purchase, store, and maintain.
MB7BT is designed to keep crews moving without constant attachment changes or downtime. The bi-directional operation and 360° rotational seat allow for instant directional switching. Its dual-end PTO and 3-point hitch systems allow multiple implements to be used strategically, enabling airports to shift quickly between tasks and seasonal demands.
Just as importantly, the platform supports workforce flexibility. Operators can be trained on a single machine that adapts to a wide range of applications, helping airports do more with existing teams while maintaining consistency and control.
As Josh Abler, VP of MB Airport Maintenance Division, notes: “The MB7BT reflects the versatility today’s airports demand, and it stands behind MB’s commitment to quality and advancement.”
For airports looking to streamline their fleet while expanding capability, the MB7BT represents a smarter, more adaptable approach to year-round maintenance.

The Future of Operator Training is Here
In addition to hands-on technical instruction, MB is introducing a new approach to their operator training line-up: simulation technology.
Currently in testing with Denver International Airport, MB’s training simulator is designed to give operators a safe, controlled environment to learn and practice equipment operation without the risks and cost associated with field training.
The training simulator addresses several key challenges facing airports today, including limited resources and the need to onboard new operators. By allowing users to familiarize themselves with controls, practice snow removal scenarios, and experience varying weather conditions, the simulator builds confidence before operators ever move onto the runway.
This type of training reduces the risk of equipment damage, eliminates the need to take active machines out of service for training, and provides consistent, repeatable learning scenarios year-round. From clear-day operations to full blizzard conditions, operators can train for virtually any situation.
Ultimately, the simulator reflects MB’s broader commitment to after-sales support and long-term customer success. When operators are better prepared, airports run efficiently.
Proud to Support the Snow Community
MB returns as the 2026 Closing Reception Sponsor. An opportunity for attendees to connect, share experiences, and strengthen relationships across the airport maintenance community.
Events like SnoPo pull together professionals from across the industry to exchange ideas, solve challenges, and move operations forward together.
“As a long-time supporter of the Snow Symposium, we see tremendous value in the connections made here,” says Alan Luke, Director of Sales at MB Companies. “It’s an opportunity to engage directly with the people who keep our airports running and to support the shared goal of safer, more efficient winter operations.”
The Closing Reception serves as a fitting end to a week of learning and reinforcing the partnerships that drive the industry forward.

Cleared for What’s Next
As industry continues to evolve, events like the International Aviation Snow Symposium remain essential, providing a platform for innovation, education, and meaningful connection.
MB Companies looks forward to another successful year in Buffalo, connecting with customers, sharing insights, and supporting the professionals who keep airport operations running smoothly in even the toughest winter conditions.
