A key investment was upgrading our facility in Oakland, Iowa (USA). This new 35,000-square-foot facility, built just five minutes from our previous location, more than doubles our previous capacity. It includes 18 individual work bays with 14-foot-high overhead doors, four wash bays, and climate-controlled work areas.
The additional capacity allows ITU to handle more orders across our full range of upfitting capabilities. This includes pickup truck accessories, cargo van interiors, utility bodies, platform bodies and field mechanics trucks.
Beyond the increased capacity in Oakland, ITU is expanding the services available across our network. Ford Motor Company recently approved Ford Maverick ship-thru capability at ITU Kansas City.
With ship-thru Ford Maverick units can be routed directly to ITU Kansas City for upfitting before continuing to the final servicing dealer. Incorporating the upfit into the vehicle’s normal transportation route can reduce unnecessary freight movement and handling costs, creating a more efficient path to the servicing dealer.
