Circular and Electric at the Winter Service Congress (NL) 2026

On April 16, 2026, Aebi Schmidt Nederland participated in the National Winter Service Congress (Nationaal Gladheidbestrijdingscongres) organized by CROW in Nijkerk, The Netherlands. During this inspiring event, professionals from the sector came together to share knowledge about the future of winter maintenance. The congress focused on current themes such as sustainability, efficient use of equipment, and the growing need for well-organized winter services.

Circular thinking in practice

At the outdoor exhibition area, we presented a fully refurbished spreading machine from Rijkswaterstaat. This machine demonstrates that extending the lifespan of existing equipment is becoming increasingly important—without compromising performance or reliability.

Why refurbishment?

  • Extended lifespan without loss of performance
  • Significantly lower CO₂ footprint compared to new equipment
  • Balance between sustainability and operational reliability
  • A full-fledged part of modern equipment strategies

More and more organizations are discovering that refurbishment is not only sustainable but also economically sound. It is an investment that pays off in both respects.

Innovation in zero-emission solutions

Indoors, the Ladog E1250 was presented, equipped with the Schmidt eSyntos spreader and a compact VPL plow on a QM-0 plate. This fully electric winter service combination shows that zero-emission winter maintenance is already available today.

Fully electric winter service:

  • Zero local emissions during operation
  • Maneuverable and suitable for urban environments
  • Efficient spreading technology with eSyntos
  • Versatile use: spreading and plowing

The Ladog E1250 combines maneuverability, efficiency, and versatility in one compact solution—ideal for municipalities aiming for sustainable winter services without sacrificing performance.

Masterclass: preparation makes the difference

During a well-attended session by Jeroen Nolten, Trainingcenter Aebi Schmidt Nederland, one key question took center stage: why do some organizations run smoothly from October onwards, while others are still busy coordinating and organizing?

The answer: preparation between May and October. During the summer months, the foundation is laid for a successful winter:

  • Setting up processes – clear agreements and workflows
  • Defining responsibilities – who does what, when, and how
  • Securing knowledge – training, instructions, and documentation
  • Checking equipment – timely maintenance and repairs

With strong preparation, work can be carried out efficiently in summer. You win the winter in the summer!
