Keeping things clean isn’t just a job, it’s a mindset

When Krakowskie Zakłady Eksploatacji Kruszywa, KRUSZYWO S.A., a Polish company in the aggregate industry, decided to modernize its cleaning and maintenance system, the goal was to find a solution that combined reliability with efficiency. Learn more here in the interview with Mateusz Grzywna, Head of the Mechanical, Maintenance, and Material Management Team, why KRUSZYWO S.A. has opted for a Schmidt Wasa 300+.

"In the aggregate industry, every detail matters - from the efficiency of machines to the condition of the roads on which heavy vehicles travel every day", says Mateusz Grzywna and continues: "Keeping such an environment clean is not only about appearance; it’s a matter of safety and operational continuity." But first things first. We wanted to understand Mateusz's processes and decisions a little better, so we asked him first about the motivation to reorganize the cleaning process.

Mateusz Grzywna (MG): Earlier, we relied on basic methods - partly manual work and partly older equipment. As our operations expanded, new challenges emerged. Dust, mud after rainfall, and increased transport traffic all began to affect safety and work organization. We realized that we needed a system capable of maintaining a consistently high level of cleanliness while giving us independence from external service providers.

This decision was part of a wider effort to modernize our operations step by step. At KRUSZYWO S.A., we believe that investing in reliable, sustainable solutions strengthens not only our internal processes but also the long-term stability of the entire company. Each improvement - even in areas that may seem secondary - contributes to the efficiency and reputation we’ve built over the years.

Aebi Schmidt (AS): Why did you choose the Schmidt Wasa 300+?

MG: We were looking for equipment that could perform well under demanding conditions - high dust levels, moisture, and variable weather. The Wasa 300⁺ met all these requirements. It offers large container capacity, strong suction performance, and easy handling. It doesn’t need special conditions to operate - it simply gets the job done. That allowed us to modernize our cleaning process without unnecessary complexity.

AS: What did your cleaning process look like before the purchase?

MG: It was far more time-consuming and much less effective. After heavy rain, we often had to spend an entire day cleaning up the roads and yards. The older machines we had were not suited for such workloads. In practice, that meant downtime, higher labour costs, and frequent interruptions to production routines.

AS: How has the Wasa 300⁺ changed daily operations?

MG: The difference was visible from day one. The sweeper allows us to keep the internal roads and yards clean without interruptions and without the risk that accumulated mud or dust will disrupt transport. Operators appreciate its manoeuvrability and intuitive operation. A few hours of work are enough to restore full order across the site. The result is a safer, more comfortable, and more efficient workplace.

For us, it’s not just about maintaining order - it’s part of a broader approach to operational excellence. Every improvement that makes work safer and smoother also reinforces the trust our clients place in us. It shows that we treat efficiency and responsibility as two sides of the same coin.

AS: Was there a situation where the machine particularly proved its value?

MG: Yes - especially after periods of heavy rainfall. Mud and dirt would previously require many hours of manual work to clear. The Wasa 300⁺ handled it quickly and efficiently. That moment confirmed to everyone involved that this was the right decision and that the investment paid off in practice.

AS: How often is the Wasa 300⁺ used on site?

MG: It operates as needed - usually in the morning or afternoon, during periods of high transport activity. Its efficiency allows us to keep access roads and loading areas clean in a short time. This means we no longer need to dedicate entire days to cleaning - cleanliness has become a natural part of our daily workflow.

AS: How did your operators receive the new equipment?

MG: Very well. They value the comfort and simplicity of operation. They also appreciate the solid build quality - it’s a machine that inspires confidence. There’s nothing unnecessary in its design; everything is practical and purposeful. That makes their work smoother and more efficient.

AS: Looking ahead, how do you see the role of such machines in your operations?

MG: These are investments that pay off faster than one might expect. Modern equipment increases efficiency, improves safety, and allows us to focus on our core production processes. The Wasa 300⁺ has proven that technology can be both simple and effective. That’s the direction we want to continue developing in - choosing solutions that genuinely support our day-to-day work, not just in theory but in practice.

At KRUSZYWO S.A., cleanliness is not only a matter of operational efficiency, but also a sign of professionalism. A clean and well-maintained site reflects a commitment to responsibility and respect for the environment. For contractors and visitors, it should be a signal that attention is paid to detail - from the quality of our materials to the condition of our facilities. "Over the years, we have built a reputation for reliability and consistency - values that are reflected not only in the quality of our products, but also in the way we care for our environment. When investors or partners visit our site, they can see that this attention to detail is part of our corporate culture and not just a temporary project", concluded Mateusz Grzywna.

When asked about the collaboration with Aebi Schmidt, Mateusz appreciated that Aebi Schmidt approached him and his team as a partner who understood their specific needs, not as  sales guys who wanted to close a quick deal. He explains: "We received professional advice on the configuration of the machine and comprehensive support during implementation. And, importantly for us, the collaboration did not end with the purchase. The customer service of Aebi Schmidt Polska is responsive and reliable. That gives us confidence and security."

We would like to thank Mateusz Grzywna and the team at KRUSZYWO S.A. for their trust, as well as for this interview and wish every success for future endeavors.
