Chassis

The MB6P is built on a heavy-duty airport chassis engineered for extreme-duty, year-round use with a wide range of attachments. For airport applications, the front axle is rated at 29K with a full-floating torsion flow drive and steer type with a single reduction gear design, while municipal applications feature a 25K full-floating front axle with the same reliable torsion flow drive and steer type. Braking is fully air actuated with drum and shoe S-cam brakes on both front and rear axles, complemented by electronic anti-lock ABS and traction control for reliable safety. The frame is constructed from heat-treated, single-formed channel steel with a minimum yield strength of 110,000 psi (758 MPa), secured with grade 8 bolts and locknuts for exceptional durability and structural integrity.

Wheelbase

Four- or six- wheel drive configurations are available, with optional all-wheel steering for improved maneuverability. The 4x4 rear axle is full-floating, torsion flow drive and steer type, rated 23K–30K, with a minimum wheelbase of 170 inches. The 6x6 tandem rear axle is rated 46K–52K, full-floating, torsion flow drive and steer type, with a minimum wheelbase of 187 inches. Optional all-wheel steering is offered for 27K, 46K, and 52K rear axles for tighter turning and better control.

Tires include 445/65 R22.5 super singles for front and rear or 315/80 R22.5 duals for the rear. Power is delivered through a six-speed Allison RDS 4000 transmission with a Marmon-Harrington MVG 1650 LD two-speed transfer case and front axle disconnect. Gear ratios are 0.87:1 high and 1.54:1 low, providing precise operation across varying conditions.

Engine and Driving

The MB6P is powered by a robust Cummins engine, delivering 450 HP at 1,800 rpm for reliable performance in demanding applications. Electrical power is supplied by a 200 A, 12-volt alternator with a master disconnect at the battery, supported by a total battery capacity of 3,000 CCA. Optional upgrades include a four-battery configuration and a 270 A alternator, providing additional electrical capacity for demanding operations.

The machine reaches speeds of up to 45 mph for airport operations and 54 mph on highways, providing efficient transit between job sites. For airport-specific applications, the MB 29,000-pound front drive and rear steer axle with locking differential ensures superior traction and precise handling under challenging conditions.

Cockpit

The upgraded aluminum cabin offers increased space and comfort, creating an ergonomic workspace for the operator. Both driver and passenger are seated on H.O. Bostrom Sierra air ride seats with 3-point seat belts, and the cabin is configured for left-hand drive. Quad electric windshield wipers with wet arms and a fresh-air heater and defroster ensure clear visibility and climate control in all conditions.

A color screen display provides real-time monitoring of chassis and equipment, complemented by a multiplex gauge cluster showing fuel level, coolant temperature, dual air system pressures, voltmeter, speedometer, tachometer, and engine hour meter. Essential equipment includes a heated AD-IS air dryer, backup alarm, 100-gallon fuel tank, and heated fuel/water separator.

The lighting is comprehensive and versatile, with two fender-mounted headlights with integral turn signals, dual LED stop, tail, turn, and clearance lights, two LED cab dome lights, and a cab-mounted lightbar ready for custom lighting installations.
