Strobes-R-Us Introduces New Chevy Tahoe Runner Light

An OEM-style running board light designed specifically for Chevy Tahoe police upfits.

POMPANO BEACH, FL — Strobes-R-Us has introduced the Chevy Tahoe Runner Light, an OEM-style running board light developed specifically for Chevy Tahoe police upfits.

The product was created to solve a common problem in Tahoe running board light installations: many industry-standard solutions require additional brackets, lowered running boards, or under-board mounting locations. While those setups can provide warning light functionality, they often look like an add-on and can make the installation more complicated than it needs to be.

Strobes-R-Us wanted a cleaner approach.

Instead of adapting an industry-standard running board light to the Tahoe, the Chevy Tahoe Runner Light was designed to match the shape and profile of the Tahoe running board. Its size, housing, and lens design were developed to integrate smoothly into the existing running board area, so the light looks like it belongs to the vehicle instead of being mounted onto it later.

“For us, the goal was not just to add another light to the Tahoe,” said Jeffrey Hanina, Executive Director of Business Development at Strobes-R-Us. “We wanted to build a cleaner solution for police upfitters. Something that fits the vehicle, installs smoothly, and gives agencies the warning and scene-light functionality they need without the bulky add-on look.”

The newest upgrade to the Chevy Tahoe Runner Light takes the concept further with full-length triple-color Red / Blue / White warning, improved OEM-style clip installation, upgraded adhesive support, and expanded programming options. Depending on the upfit setup, the light can operate through onboard flash-pattern programming or integrate with a properly configured siren/controller system when wired correctly.

Built for Faster Installation and Clean Results

Running board lighting has always been valuable on police vehicles because it adds visibility from the side of the vehicle and can support scene-light functionality when needed. The challenge has often been the installation approach.

With many traditional running board light setups, installers either lower the running board with additional brackets to create space for the light, or they mount the light underneath the running board using separate brackets. Both methods can work, but they do not create the same integrated appearance as an OEM-style product.

Under-board mounting can also place the light in a more exposed location, especially in daily fleet use where curbs, road debris, and tight parking situations are part of the vehicle’s operating environment.

The Chevy Tahoe Runner Light was developed to avoid that kind of add-on appearance. It is designed to match the running board, follow the vehicle’s original lines, and create a finished look that is cleaner, more discreet, and more intentional.

A Smoother Install Without Removing the Running Board

The Chevy Tahoe Runner Light was designed to make running board light installation cleaner from the start. Unlike many traditional running board light setups, the installer does not have to remove the running board from the vehicle, lower it with additional brackets, or mount the light underneath the board in a more exposed position.

The installation can be completed with the running board attached to the vehicle. The process starts by removing the original OEM trim molding from the running board area. A small harness entry slot is created, so the wiring can be routed cleanly into the running board instead of being visible from the outside. This helps create the finished OEM-style appearance that makes the light look integrated, not added on.

Before the light is installed, the running board surface is cleaned and prepped with the included 94 Primer adhesion promoter. This step is important because it helps prepare the surface for a secure bond with the automotive VHB adhesive.

From there, the harness is guided through the slot, and the Chevy Tahoe Runner Light is aligned with the existing OEM slots in the running board. The adhesive liners are removed step by step as the light is clipped into position, helping keep the installation controlled and properly aligned.

Once the light is seated, firm pressure is applied along the housing to secure the adhesive contact. As an additional safety layer, the installer then drills the end cap mounting points and installs the supplied push pins / mounting screws. This gives the light three layers of retention: OEM-style clips, automotive VHB adhesive, and mechanical end-cap mounting.

The result is a cleaner installation with concealed wiring, no lowered running board, no added bracket stack, and a finished look that matches the Tahoe running board instead of sitting below it.

The low-profile housing and smoked lens create a discreet, OEM-style appearance when the light is not in use.

OEM-Style Appearance for Marked and Discreet Builds

Police vehicles need lighting performance, but the appearance of the finished build also matters.

The Chevy Tahoe Runner Light was developed for agencies and upfitters that want strong lighting functionality without compromising the clean look of the vehicle. Its low-profile housing integrates smoothly into the running board, while the smoked lens keeps the light visually discreet when the system is off.

That makes it a strong fit not only for marked patrol vehicles, but also for command vehicles, supervisor units, and undercover-style Tahoe builds, where a cleaner and less obvious lighting package is preferred.

When activated, the Chevy Tahoe Runner Light provides Red / Blue / White output for warning, dimmed cruise mode and scene-light applications, helping improve side visibility while maintaining an OEM-style look.

Designed to Work with Modern Police Upfit Systems

The Chevy Tahoe Runner Light is built for modern police vehicle upfits and can be integrated with properly configured warning and intelligent siren control.

Depending on the vehicle and system setup, it can operate through its internal flasher or be integrated with an intelligent siren or controller system when wired and programmed correctly. This allows the light to function as part of a coordinated vehicle warning package rather than as a standalone add-on.

The Chevy Tahoe Runner Light was developed from a simple idea: running board lighting on a Tahoe police vehicle should not look like an afterthought. Clean installation. Concealed wiring. Integrated warning and scene-light functionality. And an OEM-inspired appearance that looks like it belonged there from the start.
