Bussnang: Walter T. Vogel is taking over the leadership of the AEBI-SCHMIDT Group. This fifty-year old who is taking over the operational management of the new group is an experienced manager with proven results. Over the last four years as CEO, he repositioned the crisis-stricken Von Roll Holding AG in a difficult market environment and brought it back on to the road to success. About Walter T. Vogel as a person

Walter T. Vogel (born 1957) has been working with Von Roll since 1999. Between 1999 and 2003, he was head of Von Roll Infratec Holding AG, before being appointed as CEO of Von Roll Holding AG in 2003. Previously, Walter T. Vogel was Head of Marketing and Sales for Ascom und Aliva AG (a subsidiary of SIKA), as well as Head of HILTI's Direct Fastening Business Unit. He had qualified as a mechanical engineer at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and took additional training in business management at the universities of St. Gallen (HSG) and INSEAD at Fontainebleau, and this, together with his work record, means he has broad experience and solid market knowledge in a number of industrial and technological sectors.

The shareholders of to the Aebi Schmidt Group are delighted that Walter T. Vogel is to take over the operational management of the new group of companies. Peter Spuhler, the majority shareholder and chairman of the administrative board, calls it a stroke of luck: "I got to know Walter Vogel as a CEO during my time on the board of directors during the restructuring phase of Von Roll and learned to appreciate him. He revitalized the heavily loss-making business and brought it back into the black. Walter Vogel is a reliable, hard-working and strong executive with many years of management experience. I am therefore extremely pleased that we have been able to secure Walter T. Vogel as the CEO of the merged Aebi Schmidt Group."

Walter T. Vogel will be taking over his new functions on September 1st 2007. His first step will be to translate into action the operational merger of the two formerly independent groups, as well as driving their strategic repositioning forward on the market. This includes, among other things, the regrouping of the various business areas into the "Agriculture" and "Municipal" divisions. The objective is to make the Aebi Schmidt Group a world-leading manufacturer of special vehicles.

On an interim basis, besides chairing the management of the Aebi Schmidt Group, Walter T. Vogel will also, as CEO, be managing the "Municipal" Division, while the "Agriculture" Division will continue to be managed by Roger Kollbrunner (Aebi CEO)


The Aebi Schmidt Group
The Aebi Group and the Schmidt Group were merged on 24 April 2007. The merger has resulted in a new, powerful group of companies that produces outstanding agricultural, municipal and snow-fighting vehicles and markets them worldwide. The Thurgau businessman Peter Spuhler is the majority shareholder of the new group of companies. The BWK GmbH equity investment company, previously a majority shareholder in Schmidt, has a minority holding in the new unit. The head office of the holding company of the new group is at Bussnang (Thurgau, Switzerland). The following are represented on the supervisory board of the new group: Majority shareholder Peter Spuhler (President of the board of management), Dr Gero Büttiker, Gert Nonnenmann, Dr Hans Michael Schmidt-Dencker, Hansruedi Geel and Peter Muri. With its approximately 1700 employees, the Aebi Schmidt Group has a total turnover of approximately CHF 500 million.
