The airport trade fair ends with very good results - 12.035 Trade visitors from a total of some 120 countries attended the leading trade fair for the airport industry to learn about the many innovative products and services of the 543 exhibiting companies from 29 countries. Although the airport industry is suffering badly as the result of sinking passenger and freight figures, the exhibition business for the majority of exhibitors was favourable. The mood was generally good and experts from the industry even spoke about a budding positive turnaround (inter airport Europe Press Office)

Those responsible at Schmidt are able to draw an extremely favourable balance about the participation at the inter airport Europe 2009. The international market leader in snow clearing, sweeping and de-icing on airport traffic areas was once again convincing, with a successful stand design coupled with the presentation of many innovations. True to the Schmidt exhibition motto „Premium solutions through innovation“, the trade visitors were shown possibilities as to how, through the use of intelligent technologies, the high-performance snow clearing and de-icing work at airports can be optimised. The exhibition stand was not only one of the most attractive at the inter airport Europe 2009 but was also one of the most popular, and one can justifiably say once again that, „the industry meets at Schmidt, the market leader!“

The Turbostream TS 10 000, which was on show for the first time, proved to be a real crowd puller. The TS 10 000, equipped with a power package consisting of a drive rating of 681 kW, is unbeatable for the fast and professional clearing of large volumes of snow! Moreover, at Schmidt multi-functionality is a byword. Thanks to the quick release coupling, the carrier vehicle Claas Xerion Saddle Trac 3800 can also be used in summer for a multitude of maintenance tasks. In addition to the TS 10 000 numerous of innovations attracted the attention of the trade visitors also.

The already proven multi-functional Schmidt high-speed sweeping machine AS 990 has also been upgraded and equipped with a quick release coupling system to permit the exchange of the suction unit with a glycol liquid suction nozzle. With the standard rear-mounted sweeping unit or an optional quick-change liquid suction nozzle, the AS 990 is the optimal solution for all-round use at airports.

Speed and efficiency but also environmental awareness, these are the requirements at a modern airport. Also in this case Schmidt has the appropriate solution: ASP 45 – Airport Sprayer with an spreading width of 45 m. This sprayer fights iced surfaces already pre-emptively, but is also extremely effective for de-icing. The benefits are immediately obvious: Increased efficiency through shorter operating times and significant cost reduction through decreased consumption of the de-icer and reduced manpower requirements.

The airport snow plough MS 56.1 was specifically designed for use on airport aprons. The new additional function of the blower blocking prevents the undesirable accumulation of snow on the sensitive zones of the aprons. Instead the snow is collected and deposited selectively.

The special snow plough MS 80.1 K was developed for the fast and residue-free, high-speed clearing of snow on runways. With the special deviation system, ground obstructions such as concrete ridges or ground lights can be easily overcome during clearing. The optional second cutting edge removes completely rest of snow and fold away blade segments reduces crossing widths. The automatic plough position monitoring eliminates incorrect operation and provides the operator with additional confidence.
