Our Purchasing

The Purchasing department of the ASH Group covers the material requirements of four production sites in Kielce (Poland), Holten (the Netherlands), Burgdorf (Switzerland), and St. Blasien (Germany), as well as the main spare parts warehouse in Laatzen (Germany), daily. Only due to a friction-free cooperation between the various sites and reliable suppliers can the ASH Group guarantee the consistently high quality of its products.

 

With about 40 employees, the Purchasing department of the ASH Group is divided into operative and strategic purchasing:

Operative purchasing takes care of the ongoing settlement of orders so that the goods are delivered to the right place in the right amount at the right price, and at the right time.

Strategic purchasing, on the other hand, deals with supplier and contract management, strategies for categories of goods, innovations and project management, price negotiations, logistics, and payment and delivery conditions.

 

90 main categories of goods

The overall purchasing requirement is structured and organized by an internal category management system, which comprises 90 main categories of goods.
In total, the purchasing volume of the ASH Group amounted to about EUR 159 million in 2013 and about EUR 147 million in 2014.
The categories of goods with the strongest sales in 2014 were Welding Assemblies, Engines and Engine Parts, and Chassis.

Regular purchasing manager meetings take place at the various sites. These meetings focus on lead buyer topics, such as the optimisation of purchasing prices, payment terms, and inventories.

 

Extensive supplier management

In the selection of new suppliers, the corresponding companies are audited and thus important compliance and environmental topics, as well as basic requirements, are discussed and the proof of an environmental management system is verified.

Whilst the conditions for a cooperation with Aebi Schmidt are set down in the general terms and conditions for business, all suppliers are evaluated by an internal supplier management system before a cooperation can begin. Where possible, environmental criteria, such as the use of reusable packaging and ecological packaging material are included in the supplier evaluation.

The furthering of Purchasing employees is very important, and targeted further eduction, training, and internal coaching are offered regularly.
The objective is to integrate purchasing into product development as early as possible in order to better influence the supplier selection.
